We extract 47 million tons of coal annually in Poland, of which 3 million 200 thousand are subject to the new regulations. tons, or about 7 percent of the market. 6 million 500 thousand tons of coal are used annually in homes, half of which comes from local mining – wnp.pl reported.
As a compromise, standards regarding sulfur, ash and moisture content, as well as the calorific value of solid fuels, were relaxed. Boilers that produce heat by burning hard coal will be subject to more stringent standards because, among other things, changes have been made to: Parameters related to the amount of sulfur produced during combustion.
The introduction of new quality standards will affect the amount of raw materials that are likely to be imported. To replace 200 thousand tons of coal it will be necessary to import 700 thousand tons of raw materialsIn order to choose the right amount of coal from them, which is likely to meet the requirements of the new regulations.
New coal quality regulations aim to improve air quality by reducing emissions of pollutants. However, the mining industry is concerned that the introduction of these standards may affect its operation and increase production costs.
