Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray will officially reprise their roles as Anna, Tess and Jake in the sequel. Freaky Friday.
These aren’t the only actors returning to the sequel to the 2003 teen classic. Mark Harmon (who plays Anna’s stepfather, Ryan), Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddy), Hayley Hudson (Peg) and Stephen Tobolowsky. (Mr. Bates) will also be present, Disney Studios announced Monday during the first day of production in Los Angeles.
Lucille Choong and Rosalind Chao will reprise their roles as a mother-daughter duo who own a Chinese restaurant.
Disney added that the sequel’s story will have a “multigenerational twist.” Anna now has her own daughter and future daughter-in-law. As they face countless challenges due to the merger of two families, Tess and Anna, who switched bodies 20 years ago, discover that lightning may indeed strike one more time.
Based on the 1972 novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers Freaky Friday, released in 2003, is the second film adaptation of the same story. The first was released in 1976, while a television version was released in 1995.
Freaky Friday 2 is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
