He noted that the alliance he helped build had supported Ukraine in its war with Russia, and that Putin’s assault on the neighboring country had brought Europeans’ darkest fears to life. “I said I wouldn’t kneel before Putin,” he said.
He also attacked Donald Trump, recalling his statements in which he questioned the principle of solidarity on which NATO was built. Biden said: “My predecessor made it clear that he felt no obligation to NATO.” – He said – and I quote – that “Putin can do whatever the hell he wants,” he said.
Biden said that America cannot hide from the world, but must lead it.
“We allowed Zelensky to use American weapons in the border area with Russia. If Zelensky had the opportunity to attack the Kremlin, would that make sense?” Biden said. “No.” “You’re going to get more long-range capabilities in addition to defensive capabilities. We’re making a decision day by day about how far they should go,” Biden said in response to reporters’ questions.
“I am the best person, as president of the United States, to ensure that Ukraine wins and that NATO is strong,” he added.
“I wouldn’t pick a vice president if she wasn’t qualified to be president. But I think I’m the most qualified person to be president,” Joe Biden said when asked if Kamala Harris could replace him in the presidential race. “I beat Trump once, and I’ll beat him again.”
When asked about his mistake during a joint speech with Volodymyr Zelensky, when he called him “President Putin,” Joe Biden said the conference was a success. “Find me a leader who thinks differently,” he said. He said leaders had thanked him personally at the NATO summit for his contribution to strengthening the alliance.
“If you look at my schedule, it’s all day long. So what does Trump do? He’s hitting a hole somewhere on the golf course,” President Biden joked when asked about his fitness.
