“The Hero of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, presented copies of his credentials regarding assuming the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” the Ukrainian Embassy in London said in a statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv stressed that the Ukrainian embassy will continue to work to strengthen bilateral relations with the United Kingdom to bring Ukraine’s victory in the war with Russia closer.
“The victory of Ukraine in the war against the Russian aggressor remains the main priority of my work and the work of the embassy,” General Zaluzhny said on Telegram.
In February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed decrees dismissing General Zaluzhny from the post of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointing Oleksandr Syrskyi to this post. The president then approved Zaluzhny’s nomination for the post of Ukrainian Ambassador to Great Britain, and in May he signed a decree relieving General Zaluzhny from military service.
