Michel Rivard was honored at the Summer Festival: the Miroir de la Renommée prize and a regret

Michael Rivard, who received the Summer Festival’s Mirror of Fame award on Sunday, admitted he regrets comments he made 15 years ago when he was concerned about the Anglicisation of the event.

Paying tribute to the man who had a “significant impact” on the festival, programmer Louis Bellavance recalled with a smile that he expressed fears that “the Summer Festival would one day become the Quebec City Summer Festival.”

“Do you agree that after 15 years, we not only keep our French-speaking name, but we continue to fulfill our promises to use all our platforms to promote local artists singing in French,” he asked. As often as we can under ideal circumstances?

A good player, explained Michael Rivard, who spoke through his hat. “I had a fear, it’s not there anymore.”

In front of the Quebec media, the Quebec legend said, “I regret saying that.

“Touched and Moved”

The former Beau Domege, who is celebrating 50 years of career, said he was “very emotional and very happy to receive this award”.

“Writing songs in French is a dream in the hope of reaching people’s hearts. In this 50-year journey, Quebec City and its public have been among the world’s best audiences.

Officially, Michael Rivard participated in FEQ 11 times, but based on other appearances, everyone agreed that this number was the minimum.
