Ukrainians entered Russia ‘like butter.’ General Pinnick on what’s next

The Ukrainian military attacked the Kursk region of Russia on Tuesday. On Thursday, it took control of the Soga gas metering station, through which Russian gas is sent to southern Europe. According to Russian sources, about a thousand Ukrainian soldiers, supported by tanks, armored vehicles, drones and artillery, have infiltrated the Kursk region for more than 30 kilometers.

General Mieczyslav Pyanek commented on the successes of Ukrainian forces on Saturday on TVN24.

In his opinion, the destructive power of the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region has a “multidimensional aspect.” – First of all, political, because it shows that Ukraine, defending itself, can attack. This also shows the Russians what the face of war looks like, the general said.

In his opinion, “by carrying out this attack, Ukraine also showed that it is capable of hitting critical infrastructure facilities, such as power lines, airports, pipelines.” – It also shows that when carrying out such actions, it does not kill innocent civilians, but attacks military facilities, such as an airport, for example – the military officer said.

He added that thanks to this operation carried out by Ukrainian forces, the world has once again turned its attention to Ukraine, because the Middle East – as he pointed out – has “withdrawn” part of this attention recently.

General Pinnick pointed out that when conducting an operation, there is always a presumption of a political and military objective.

– The political goal was certainly to show Russia that we, the Ukrainians, are fighting for our country. And we can also attack you from those places and locations from which you send your planes and launch missiles at our facilities. That is why the West, including Germany, Great Britain and the United States, clearly say: Ukraine has the right to attack the facilities from which you attack its territory – the expert said.

He added that the military objective was to take control of specific facilities. “Such a thing was certainly the airport that was destroyed and the planes that were parked there,” he said.

According to the general, the Russians were not prepared for an attack from Ukraine.

– I am also puzzled by the fact that Russia is so inept and clumsy in organizing the defense of its territory. They were simply not at all prepared for anyone who could attack them. The Ukrainians entered this area like butter, he said.

He added that the Russians are now bringing their forces from other parts of the front. – He pointed out that they are also bringing in Rosgvardia forces from deep inside Russia, which are on standby there.

According to him, this shows Kiev’s second military goal. He noted that if the Russians wanted to focus on launching an offensive on the Ukrainian front, they were slightly thwarted.

When asked about the next steps, in his opinion, for the Ukrainian forces in this area, General Pyanik replied that “certainly after reaching some direction for further offensive, perhaps they will reach Kursk, the supply lines will be extended and they will do it. Perhaps we will have to withdraw from this area in an organized manner.”

– The effect is amazing. The situation on their front is very difficult and they need to strengthen these sectors of the front. Ironically, Lukashenko helped them here by withdrawing two of his battalions from the Ukrainian-Belarusian border and thus they were able to free up their forces that were there and direct them to this dynamic offensive towards Kursk. The military officer said that combat groups, mechanized brigades, assault brigades are involved there, that is, soldiers who are prepared and experienced in raid battles.

He noted that each such gathering is preceded by a very thorough reconnaissance. – The reconnaissance and sabotage groups operating there have already determined the directions, places of attack and valuable targets, and this has been determined very carefully. He added that the dynamics of this attack show that the goals they set for the military operation have been achieved.
