A New York Times study published Saturday showed that US Vice President Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in pre-election polls in three key states. In Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the Democrat won by four percentage points. These are three of the seven key states where gaining an advantage will be key to the outcome of the US presidential election this fall.
For nearly a year, opinion polls on support for the US presidential election have shown a tie between Donald Trump and President Joe Biden or a slight lead for the Republican candidate, the New York Times reported on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a Siena Poll published by the newspaper that day showed current Vice President Kamala Harris leading Trump in three key states: Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
The difference between them is 4 percentage points. In all three states, 50 percent. Voters said they would vote for Harris, with 46 percent backing Trump. The US election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Key states for election results
Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are called swing states, the newspaper reported. They owe their popular name to the fact that sometimes the Republican candidate wins the election there, and sometimes the Democratic candidate wins. Gaining the advantage among local voters is of fundamental importance to the outcome of the presidential election.
In addition to the three states mentioned, this year’s swing states also include: North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia.
In late July, a Bloomberg poll showed Harris leading in four of the seven swing states — Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin — and tied with Trump in Georgia.
At the beginning of July, Trump was leading Biden by two percentage points. He led in five of the seven swing states.
