There is no shortage of streaming services in Poland. So if someone subscribes to more than one, they will have plenty to choose from. Here are some of the new things you will see this week, including: on Netflix, Max, and Prime Video.
“Industry” – Season 3 from August 12 on Max Channel
Industry is a British-American television series that premiered in 2020. The series revolves around a group of young graduates competing for several jobs at one of London’s leading investment banks. They all have big ambitions, wanting to conquer the world, but they get into all sorts of trouble, including difficult love affairs or drug adventures. However, the biggest influence on the crystallization of their identity is the stressful environment of Pierpoint & Co, where meritocracy is promoted in theory, but in practice there is an ossified hierarchy.
In the third season of the series, we will take another look at the tough world of business. The big draw is the fact that this part stars Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in the movie “Game of Thrones”. His role in the “industry” promises to be very interesting.
“Emily in Paris” – Season 4 August 15 on Netflix
Described as a “guilty pleasure” for millennials, this series with Lily Collins needs no introduction. It is worth noting that the new season of the series has been split into two parts. The first will appear on the platform on August 15, and the second on September 12. As you can see, Netflix decided it was necessary to please fans.
“The Lottery!” – Premieres August 15 on Prime Video
A grand lottery is coming up in the near future. There’s just one problem: to claim the huge prize, all you have to do is kill the winner before sunset. When Katie Kim (Awkwafina) accidentally wins the lottery, she reluctantly agrees to work with amateur security guard Noel Cassidy (John Cena), who, in exchange for a cut of the prize, agrees to protect Katie until dusk.
“The Lottery!” is an action comedy that attracts primarily the presence of actors who have already shown several times that they are able to make viewers laugh. We also have Awkwafina, known, among others, from “Crazy Rich Asians”, as well as John Cena who was surprisingly funny in the series “Peacemaker”.
“Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga” – Premieres August 16 on Max
The origins of Furiosa, the character who delighted everyone in the masterpiece “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), promised on paper to be a huge success. After all, the predecessor of the series is widely considered one of the best films of the XXI century. However, the work with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth turned out to be a financial failure.
According to calculations, the film should have grossed around US$350-375 million to make a profit. This attempt failed as Furiosa grossed US$172 million worldwide. It has been written that Warner Bros could have lost up to US$100 million on this production. However, a studio spokesperson claimed that half of the film’s budget was covered by the Australian federal government, so the losses should have been less.
The failure of “Furiosa” in theaters doesn’t change the fact that it’s a movie worth watching from your couch. Not only does it delight, as usual, in George Miller’s directorial imagination, but it also has a different narrative structure than “Mad Max: Fury Road,” allowing it to stand as a standalone story in its own right. It’s a revenge movie made on an epic scale, something even Stanley Kubrick would have been proud of had he come up with the idea of making a post-apocalyptic story.
“The Relationship” – Premieres August 16 on Netflix
Mike (Mark Wahlberg), a sober New Jersey construction worker, is unexpectedly drawn into a dangerous spy game by Roxanne (Halle Berry), his former high school girlfriend, who entrusts him with an important mission for the CIA. Production Description
This is another action movie with comedy elements, and promises to be a light entertainment just in time for the weekend. In addition to the aforementioned stars, the movie also features Oscar winner J.K. Simmons.
