Health Canada and DeWalt are recalling four models of battery-operated electric lawn mowers due to a water infiltration problem. More than 9,600 products have been affected in the country.
“If water enters the mower mount while the battery is on, the mower may not stop when the mower handle is released,” the state agency explained in an updated press release Thursday.
This can cause electric shock and there is a risk of electrocution.
In addition to water intrusion, this problem can occur when starting the engine without the key if the battery is not removed before storage.
Two of the four models affected by this recall notice, its model no. They have two 20 V MAX batteries and measure 21 inches.
- Self Propelled Lawn Mower with Yellow Frame and Yellow Handle Plate – DCMWP234U2-CA
- Push Mower with Yellow Frame and Black Handle Plate – DCMWSP256U2-CA
The other two variants have a single 60V MAX battery and are the same length.

DeWalt notes that only mowers with codes “2023 32” through “2024 12” are affected. According to Health Canada, they were sold from February 2024 to July 2024.
Those manufactured after March 2024 will not be targeted by the recall.
What if you are worried?
Health Canada and DeWalt therefore recommend that you stop using the machine immediately.
“Do not get it wet and disconnect your battery when not in use,” the US company said in a press release.
This is indicated by the model number printed on the black nameplate located on the rear door of the machine.
As for the date code, it is written on the left side of the mower, above the rear wheel.
DeWalt is offering free repairs to affected individuals at an authorized repair center. These people can go on their own Location tool Find the one closest to you.
On August 8, the central government clarified that there was no incident in the country.
