Confusion surrounds the series’ former showrunner X-Men ’97 Lasts. I remind you that he was fired a week before the official premiere of his production and removed from the list of people responsible for creating the second season. Bo Di Mayo Disney confronted him, but the studio quickly issued a statement suggesting that the showrunner had engaged in unacceptable behavior. Jeff Snyder, an industry insider, elaborated on the matter. He alleged that Beau DeMayo sent nude photos of himself in sexually suggestive poses meant to recreate superhero poses from comic books to several young male employees working on the show. He told them they could serve as “inspiration” for the creation of the characters.
Marvel allegedly responded to these reports and asked DeMayo to stop sending his photos to employees. However, the X-Men ’97 creators didn’t stop there. Schneider revealed that DeMayo repeatedly groped his assistant. He also allegedly physically and mentally abused other employees.
Another site, The Streamr, reportedly leveled more accusations at DeMayo, this time alleging that multiple employees reported him to human resources. The showrunner’s lawyer decided to respond.
X-Men ’97 Creator’s Lawyer Responds to These Accusations
Attorney Brian Friedman replied:
Do you realize that Disney allowed Beau to have a fan site only while he was working for them? I don’t know if anyone has ever quit their job while they were a showrunner, but it happens with every show. My client never sent any of these photos or videos to his close staff. This is a lie and a slander.
No one who reported Beau to HR received any inappropriate videos or photos. That’s simply not true. He is a proud black gay man and Disney knew exactly what his values were and who he was. That’s why they didn’t ask him to stop running Only Fans. They let him be who he was and allowed his creativity to flourish. And when they didn’t like his freedom of expression and disagreement with illegal NDAs, a certain local operative wanted to replace him because he was more successful than other creators. Ask Disney if his separation agreement illegally silenced him. I wonder what they would say.
