Death of Historian Marcel Tessier

Historian and television columnist Marcel Tessier has died at the age of 90.

The man from Montreal’s Saint-Henri district was recognized for his deeply independent values. He campaigned for the National Liberation Front in the 1960s and later for the Parti Québécois.

In 2001, the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montreal awarded him the title of Patriot of the Year.

The author of several historical essays, he became particularly known for his numerous appearances on the show hello hello.

Guy Mongrain, a former anchor of the newspaper, also paid tribute to her on his social networks.

“Yesterday morning I got this unwanted call from the love of his life. The hours were numbered. My friend, teacher, historian, patriot, rest in peace,” the presenter wrote.
