This is how Grabara reacted to not getting a call-up from Probierz. “Jawny Gaja” of the Polish national team

A storm immediately broke out on social media. All because of the complete absence of Grabara, who, according to many experts, could become the natural heir to Wojciech Szczesny. While the name of the goalkeeper of the German Wolfsburg was not on the coach’s list.

Grabara commented on the lack of choice. He said it directly.

– Unless there was a discussion and he said: “Coach, if I have to be number three, thank you.” If so, I can still understand this decision. If there wasn’t and it was a coincidence: “Grabara is not my cup of tea. I don’t like Grabara. Grabara is too controversial,” then I don’t understand it from a sporting perspective – Mateusz Boric said on Tuesday, wondering about the reasons for Probers’ decision. Other experts have also eagerly written about the reasons behind not choosing Grabara.

A day later, the co-founder of Kanał Sportowy had the opportunity to personally ask the 25-year-old why he was not at the national team’s training camp next Monday. It turned out that the coach simply did not want him in his team at the moment, which the absentee himself explained in very detailed statements. – Kamil Grabara was not called up. And that’s the truth, that’s all […] I’ve been expressing myself the same way for a long time. And I’m not changing that opinion. If I’m not selected for the national team, I’m not good enough to be there. I hope that’s the reason. At least then I know where I stand. Then I know that Kamil Grabara has to get better to join this team – he’s started.

Mateusz Boric then directly asked if Grabara wanted to come to the national team training camp only if he was the first-choice goalkeeper. Previously, former representatives and experts had speculated that perhaps due to his arrogance and lack of humility, Michal Probbers did not want him on his team.

– Kamil Grabara said that being number three is not necessary when Wojciech Szczęsny is number one. Because as long as Wojciech is in the team, he will be number one. I never said that I would not be number three […] I have always wanted to be part of the national team. I came to the World Cup as an emergency, and I had no complaints against anyone, he explained.

After a moment, Grabara directly announced: – I listen to such stupid comments that the entire Grabara does not agree to be number two/three, he is only interested in being number one […] Screaming balls. I didn’t say those words. In my opinion, if Wojciech is no longer around, there should be some competition to be the number one on the team. That’s it. It’s a sad twist to the theory. […] “I don’t want to drag him out,” he added.

It turns out that Michał Probierz spoke to Kamil Grabara for the last and only time in… 2018. This means that the coach has not yet explained to the 25-year-old why he is not in the team, which Borek’s interviewer confirmed. “The team will cope well without me,” he said with a wry smile. Based on his words, it can be concluded that Michał Probierz does not need the Wolfsburg player in the team, despite the excellent level he has been showing for a long time.

Meanwhile, Grabara himself wants his sporting level to be evaluated in the end, not the rumours appearing in the media and his alleged reluctance to be a substitute. Finally, Mateusz Borek asked him: Skorupski or Bułka? The 25-year-old answered in his own style: Grabara.

The former Danish Copenhagen player has already played his first official Bundesliga match for his new club. First, Wolfsburg faced Bayern Munich at home. Despite the hosts losing 2:3, the Pole received a score of 1.5 from Kicker, becoming the best player of the match. At first glance, Grabara’s superiority after three goals might come as a bit of a surprise, but over the course of 90 minutes, the 25-year-old put in a great performance.
