After years of legal proceedings, Mike Ward-Jeremy Gabriel Saga ended Friday with the Supreme Court of Canada ruling in favor of the comedian by four to five votes.

In an interview with LCN, Mike Ward’s attorney, Mr. Julius Gray refused to talk about a short victory, but agreed that this decision should be taken with humility.
Mike Ward claims that Jeremy Gabriel did not make fun of him because of his disability, but rather used his disability.
“When the court gives five to four judgments, I think you should read both judgments with respect,” said Julius Gray.
Nonetheless, the human rights lawyer believes the Supreme Court ruling is a victory for all Canadian society.
“I think it would be better for Canada to have this majority verdict and give a wider meaning to freedom of expression,” he declares.
The judgment also confirms that opinions about discrimination and dignity are clarified, which the latter argues will allow them to be better emphasized.
“The court has made it very clear that a subjective sense of humiliation or humiliation is not enough,” he said. Julius Gray.
“Just the notion of disability is not discriminatory,” he adds.
