A popular bank made an announcement.  He will give money to the Poles

Euronet took place on Tuesday (June 18). Therefore, Poles had limited access to their money – The withdrawal limit has been reduced to 200 PLN in a single transaction. Those who wanted to withdraw a larger amount had to incur additional costs.

The mBank network responded to this situation. Surcharge waiver announced – Thus, the Poles will get their money back.

Euronet has reduced the one-time withdrawal limit to PLN 200 for customers of all banks in Poland for one day. For many of you, this involved additional costs. Since neither we nor you had any influence on this situation, we have decided to return all fees collected (…) for cash withdrawals at the devices of this network – we read in a statement from mBank.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Bureau is looking into the action taken by Euronet

Euronet’s protest was taken up by the Competition and Consumer Bureau. Explanatory procedures have begun.

However, it is crucial for us to establish relationships between market participants, including a mechanism for sharing ATM cash withdrawal transaction fees. We will investigate this situation primarily in relation to competition protection regulations,” said Malgorzata Ciloč, spokeswoman for the Competition and Consumer Protection Bureau, quoted by next.gazeta.pl.
