Iga Świątek met another competitor at the WTA 1000 Championships in Rome. Her opponent will be Polish-Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko, who knocked out 28th-ranked American Bernarda Pera.
Iga Świątek quickly entered the third round in Rome and waited for the next opponent. Lured by a small upset, it was Lesia Tsurenko (WTA 68) who defeated Bernarda Pera (WTA 32) 6:4, 6:4.
Curenko has ranked 23rd in the rankings in the past. He can boast of being in the quarter-finals of one of the four major tournaments. She achieved it at the US Open 2018. The Ukrainian has four WTA Tour titles to her credit. She won them in Istanbul (2015), Guangzhou (2016) and two in Acapulco (2017, 2018).
2023 is going very well for Korinco. In Hua Hin scored the final. She has qualified for five tournaments, including the Australian Open, and two WTA 1000 events, in Indian Wells and Miami. In California, it reached the third round. The same result was also achieved recently in Madrid. Such good results returned the Ukrainian to the top 100 of the ranking. In January it was ranked 137th.

Schftik and Korenko will meet on Sunday. This will be their second meeting. A year ago, the Polish woman defeated the Ukrainian 6: 2, 6: 0 in the first round of Roland Garros.
