According to local police, the bus driver tried to cross the flooded bridge, but a strong current hijacked the car and dragged it into the river.
“At least 17 people have been rescued from the sinking of a vehicle in the Anzio river,” Njilu said. Police chief Joseph Yakan said an investigation had already begun to investigate the cause of the tragedy.
