A fight in a prison cell in Bordeaux was filmed a few weeks ago and shows inmates holding knives.
In a video obtained by TVA Nouvelles, the attackers appear to be holding a knife and wounding a fellow inmate.
In addition, the images were captured by an inmate using a cell phone, where possession of this type of device is prohibited at the Montreal Detention Center.
After that, the pictures were also broadcasted on social media.
“It’s true, incarcerated people get cell phones. They make transactions, instigate their crimes and film themselves to laugh at the justice system,” says Mathieu Lavoie, who represents Quebec corrections officials.
The attack took place in Section B of the Gouin Boulevard West prison in Montreal. Certain prisoners are awaiting severe punishment.
“I’ve never seen anyone get hit with a blade especially for fun. Usually, the guy is warned several times before or it settles accounts,” explains Eric Lagasse, ex-convict and ex-representative of prisoners in Bordeaux prison.
A few days ago, at least three hunting or switchblade knives, as well as a modified knife blade, were found in cells in Quebec. Some information from the Ministry of Public Security on the use of drones near prisons.

“What we’re asking is that we have to invest in our institutions. We have to invest in making sure the windows are secure, and we have to bring proportionate sanctions to those who are incarcerated when departments don’t care about the rules and bring in prohibited and dangerous goods,” says Matthew Lavoie.
Public Security Minister Francois Bonnardel declined to respond to our report.
