In the fall of 2021, the movie “No Time to Die” made its big screen debut, in which Daniel Craig played James Bond for the last time. Even before the premiere of the film, the actor announced that he was saying goodbye to the cult franchise. Since then, media and fans from all over the world have been having heated discussions about choosing the star's successor.
According to industry experts, the biggest chances to take on this iconic role were, among others: Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Richard Madden, Tom Hiddleston and Henry Cavill. Also among the strong nominees are Lucien Laviscount, known from the series “Emily in Paris,” and Cillian Murphy, who won an Oscar this year for his performance in the award-winning “Oppenheimer.”
The latest reports indicate that the producers of the Bond saga have already found the actor of their dreams to play the role of agent 007. The British newspaper “The Sun” received information that the official offer was on 33-year-old Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Viewers know him from productions such as “Tenet”, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, “Bullet Train”, “Nocturnal Animals” and “The Outlaw King”.
The magazine's source says: “The offer has been made, and they are waiting for his response. Aaron will sign the contract in the next few days so they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
The first rumors about Taylor Johnson's candidacy appeared last fall. Its aim was to attract the attention of Barbara Broccoli herself, the main producer of the series of films revolving around the adventures of the British spy. An insider told the Daily Mail at the time: “Aaron is the current favorite to play this iconic character. He's Barbara's first choice – he's practically unbeatable.”
“It's great that people see me in this role. I take it as a huge compliment,” the actor recently commented on the rumors in an interview with Numero.
Sam Taylor-Johnson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Taylor Johnson has no shortage of professional challenges these days. Two films with his participation will premiere this year – the science fiction production “Kraven the Hunter” and the remake of the horror film “Nosferatu” directed by Robert Eggers, in which the star's partners include, among others: Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe.
The star is often talked about in the context of his private life. Aaron's relationship with his wife, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is 24 years his senior, is causing big feelings among fans. The couple met in 2009 on the set of the film “John Lennon: The Boy From Nowhere”, when the actor was 18 years old and his future wife was 42 years old. A year later, their first daughter was born. The second one was born in 2012.
