boundariesIt’s the planet Pandora, a gathering place for the galaxy’s treasure hunters. Yes, especially Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett, who crosses paths with DR Patricia Tanis, starring Jamie Lee Curtis. The entire thing, directed by Eli Roth, features the voices of Adriana Greenblatt, Gina Gershon, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. But only two actresses should be given space…
“I have never played any character from a video game. I played the Queen of England [NDLR: Elizabeth 1re dans les films de Shekhar Kapur]A goddess [NDLR: Galadriel dans les films de Peter Jackson]… But when this project was presented to me, I told myself that it was a universe I had not yet explored. Then I heard that Jamie Lee was in the cast and I was on board!

“My first gesture is to meet the fans of the game, because to approach the character of Lilith, you have to understand why the gamers love her so much. Because even though the movie has to be different, the fans have to find themselves in it.
“We had a lot of fun,” says Jamie Lee Curtis, adding that his colleague just explained. What I loved was that Christy Pitchford, the wife of Randy Pitchford, who created Lilith and Patricia Tanis, explained to me her vision for my character. It allowed me to understand things that I would not have known otherwise. Christie especially reminded me of being a scientist with autism spectrum disorder.

The story is relatively simple and the movie includes some impressive action sequences. Lilith (Cate Blanchett), a formidable bounty hunter, is hired by Atlas (Edgar Ramirez), whose daughter Tiny Tina (Arianna Greenblatt) has been kidnapped by a psychotic Krieg (Florian Mundeanu). She heads to the planet Pandora, the place of all desires, due to the presence of a chest of unsuspected…and unsuspected riches. Along the way, he meets a strange robot (voiced by Jack Black) and Danis (Jamie Lee Curtis), who teach him more about his mysterious past.
Game or not?
We know that Jamie Lee Curtis is a gamer, an avid player World of Warcraft Cate Blanchett admits she doesn’t know how to use a controller!
“Whether or not you’re a fan of video games and video games in general makes no difference. It’s a movie, it’s a completely different art form,” said Jamie Lee Curtis.

For Cate Blanchett, “This film is a different way of using this universe. In the game, gamers can customize their character’s appearance, choose their weapons and customize their experience as much as possible. In a movie, you have to make choices, and the dimensions of the screen dictate what you see there.
So there are three generations of women at heart boundaries. “But not behind the camera,” insists Jamie Lee Curtis. Yes, we have made significant progress, but there is more to do! I just read a news story that explains how women’s place in the film industry has gone up and down a bit.

“Yes, it makes a difference in the video game world that you can play characters created by women. Female characters created by men are basically concepts, which isn’t the case at all boundaries. And it was refreshing, because I didn’t expect to see women from all walks of life, all cultures, and every body type possible playing this game.
“Yes, we talk a lot about the box office, but I still think films have a life beyond statistics. But any industry, even a creative one, run by the same crew and catering to the same audience is doomed. The only way our profession can continue to reinvent itself is to expose as many voices as possible.
“Creativity has no gender,” said Jamie Lee Curtis. Creativity is non-binary.
