– They put all these Afghans on the list of people to be eliminated. It’s scary and shocking. We certainly do not have a good conscience towards them – comments a US Department of Defense official, requesting anonymity.

“All transportation has been cleared”

And during one of the presidential press conferences, Al Bawaba inquired about the White House’s position on this matter. Joe Biden said he was not sure such lists existed, but he did not deny that the United States passed the names of people of interest to the Taliban.

– There were times when our military called their counterparts in Afghanistan He stated that the bus carries a certain number of people we care about. As far as I know, all such transfers were allowed – explained the president.

The list’s issue was brought up at a classified briefing on Capitol Hill earlier this week, which became controversial after top Biden administration officials defended their close cooperation with the Taliban. Biden officials said it was the best way to keep Americans and Afghans safe on their way to the airport.

Let’s remember the facts. After the fall of Kabul, in the early days of the evacuation, a joint US diplomatic and military coordination team at the airport provided the Taliban with a list of people the US intended to evacuate. These names included Afghans who served on the US side during the Twenty Years’ War and applied for special immigrant visas to America. Citizens have also been replaced United States of AmericaDual nationals and legal permanent residents. As a result, the Taliban went door-to-door to find Afghan interpreters and others who assisted US and Western forces.

In written and oral correspondence, General Frank McKenzie, commander of US Central Command and Admiral Peter Vasili, commander of US ground forces in Afghanistan, described the Taliban as “our Afghan partners”.
