A team led by Juan F. Gibaj: The remains of five boats in the town of La Marmotta, near Rome. The boats, which date back to between 5,700 and 5,100 BC, were built from hollowed-out logs using four different types of wood. Analysis of its construction revealed advanced construction techniques, such as transverse reinforcements.
The researchers also discovered three T-shaped pieces of wood, each containing a series of holes that were likely used to attach ropes attached to the sails. According to scientists, building these boats required a detailed understanding of the properties of wood and advanced carpentry skills.
This discovery confirms the hypothesis that important innovations in sailing occurred in the early Neolithic. The authors suggest that there may be more similar structures near La Marmota, which could provide additional evidence of extensive maritime shipping and trade in this region during the Neolithic.
Echo Richards embodies a personality that is a delightful contradiction: a humble musicaholic who never brags about her expansive knowledge of both classic and contemporary tunes. Infuriatingly modest, one would never know from a mere conversation how deeply entrenched she is in the world of music. This passion seamlessly translates into her problem-solving skills, with Echo often drawing inspiration from melodies and rhythms. A voracious reader, she dives deep into literature, using stories to influence her own hardcore writing. Her spirited advocacy for alcohol isn’t about mere indulgence, but about celebrating life’s poignant moments.
