Our portal has learned that admission to the neurological ward of the District Hospital in Bielsko-Biała has been suspended since Friday. The reason is that four doctors were infected with the Corona virus, and a letter in this case was sent to the surrounding hospitals and emergency services. This is the only branch of this kind in our city and Bielsko region.
On January 27, the management of the regional hospital in Bielsko-Biala sent a letter in this regard to the regional office in Katowice, where the regional coordinator of emergency medical services works. And it was found that four doctors from the neurosurgery ward were infected with strokes with the Corona virus. In this case, admission to the ward has been suspended since yesterday until further notice.
– In connection with the above, we kindly request you to refer patients with neurological diseases to the neighboring centres – we read in the letter. The document was to the Marshal’s Office in Katowice or the Bielsko Rescue Service, but also to the Beskid Oncology Center – Municipal Hospital in Bielsko-Biała and the Railway Hospital in Wielkovice Bistra. Both institutions have liquidated neurology departments in their structures in recent years. The reason was the lack of medical staff.
Since yesterday in Bielsko-Biawa and Bielsko County, where more than 330 thousand people live. Residents temporarily do not have any neurology department. This is a very serious problem for paramedics, because the nearest such units operate in Cieszyn, Sucha Beskidzka, Oświęcim and Pszczyna.
