Android TV Google TV features Chromecast, LG and Samsung quick sharing and quick pairing

The number of devices running Android TV or Google TV next to it is increasing every year. At the end of 2020, there were 80 million of these devices, after a year 110 million, and at the end of 2022 150 million. The latest data is more than 220 million. Thus, the number of TVs and multimedia players running Google has grown by 70 million over the past 12 months.

Android TV or Google TV is installed on Sony, Philips, Xiaomi, TCL and other TVs. People who don't want to replace old equipment and enjoy many apps (including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, HBO Max, Player, Viaplay, Polsat Box Go, TVP VOD, SkyShowtime, and Canal+ online) can purchase a streaming device. This includes: Mi-Box or Chromecast with Google TV. Prices for the cheapest appetizers start from PLN 200.

Ease of exchanging content between devices

Many new features were also introduced at CES. One of them is Quick Share, which was created in collaboration with Samsung. It allows you to quickly transfer content (such as photos or videos) between Android devices. Simply tap the quick share icon to see a list of available devices nearby and transfer media quickly and securely. The tool will appear in February on devices that previously supported the Nearby Share function. The company is also working with PC manufacturers like LG to make it easier to transfer content from Windows devices in the future.

Also in February, Fast Pair on Chromecast with Google TV is expected to launch. Thanks to it, you can quickly pair devices. For example, a media player connected to the TV and headphones or wireless speakers. Google promises in the blog that after enabling pairing mode, one click is enough for the device to work as expected. By the end of the year, the widget will also appear on other Google TV devices.

Google is also announcing an increase in the number of devices with Chromecast (the ability to cast streaming content from your phone to your TV). Although LG TVs have WebOS built-in and not Android TV or Google TV, models produced in 2024 are expected to get Chromecast for LG's hospitality and healthcare services. Thanks to this, for example, in a hotel room equipped with LG equipment, you will be able to watch a program or movie from the streaming application without having to log in. Hisense ULED and ULED X TVs from 2024 as well as TCL Q Class and TCL QM7 will also be equipped with Chromecast.

The advantage of Android and Google TV is the number of applications available through the operating system. That's more than 10 thousand. In the case of Tizen Samsung, 1,000 apps are available to customers, and 1,277 apps can be used across devices running LG's WebOS.
