On Monday, the ATP ranking was published, which takes into account the results obtained by tennis players at the ATP Masters 1000 competition in Monte Carlo. There is no good news for Hubert Hurkacz, who has slipped several times again.

Last week, the prestigious Rolex Monte Carlo Masters 2023 tournament was held, and Hubert Hurkacz reached the third round, where he had to acknowledge the superiority of Italian Yannick Sener after a three-set duel.

The 26-year-old from Wroclaw did not repeat last year’s quarter-final match and thus missed out on 90 points. On Monday, it fell from 13th place to 15th place. Before “Hobby” were Briton Cameron Norrie and Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who lost the last three months due to injury, but still scored more points than the Pole.

Further points were lost by Kamel Mechrzak, who was provisionally suspended on suspicion of doping. On Monday, the Piotrków resident fell to 166th. Kacper Żuk moved up to 263rd, scoring points against the competitor in Split. On the other hand, Daniel Michalski earned points for his ITF World Tennis Tour victory in Santa Margherita di Pula and returned to the top 300. Varsovian is currently ranked 294th tennis player in the world.

Serbian Novak Djokovic remained at the top of the ATP rating, having won only one duel in Monte Carlo. Despite this, he raised the difference from Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz II to 470 points. Norwegian Casper Rudd returned to third place, and Russian Daniil Medvedev came fourth. They took advantage of the fact that Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas failed to defend his title on the Monaco clay, dropping to fifth place.

And the new Rolex Monte Carlo Masters champion, Russia’s Andrei Rublev, earned 1,000 points. However, this only allowed him to strengthen his sixth position in the ATP ranking. His successor is Holger Rohn, whom he defeated in the final. The seventh place is the highest in the career of the talented Dane. The Italian Jannik Sinner, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and American Taylor Fritz also enter the top ten.

Three main series events will take place on European clay this week. The Gentlemen will play in Barcelona (ATP 500), Munich and Banja Luka (ATP 250). Of the Poles, only Jan Zieliński will present himself, who will again create a pair of doubles with Monegasque Hugo Nys in the Catalan capital.
