The Polish Cup winners did not disappoint in the first qualifying round for the Europa League. Wisła Kraków passed KF Llapi from Kosovo. In the return match away from home, they won 2-1, with the decisive goal scored in the last minute of normal time.

Wisła Kraków went to Podujevo to advance to the second qualifying round of the Europa League. The Polish Cup winners took home a 2-0 win over Remonta. A week earlier, Igor Sabala and Angel Rodado had fired home against the Kosovar opposition. So it was that the White Star’s return to the European Cup was impressive. It was supposed to put the dots on the i’s and t’s on the journey.

The White Stars played the return match with the same line-up as the previous match. Coach Kazimierz Moskal did not decide to replace a single player. Alan Orija and Mateusz Minsky, as well as top scorers Igor Sabala and Angel Rodado, started. Coach Tahar Batatina, however, had to resign from the five players he started in Krakow.

Wisła were in no hurry at the start of the return match and waited for the opportunity to launch a counterattack. In the 8th minute, the break for Moskal ended with a great chance to extend the lead. The pass from the right wing went into the penalty area, and Olivier Sokeniecki fired the ball. However, Ilir Avdeli hit the ball.

Biała Gwiazda remained on the attack and in the 16th minute they put the ball past KF Llapi with a shot from Olivier Sukiennicki. No goal was scored due to offside. The failure of the attack was determined by the details. However, the scoring chances for the visitors multiplied and in the next few minutes, Rafał Mikulik and Elvir Jashijan missed their chances to score.

After the drinks break, the pace of the game slowed down, which was somewhat good news for the Wisla players. They remained top of the group and were gradually getting closer to promotion. The hot weather conditions affected both teams, causing the ball to roll lazily on the pitch.

In the 58th minute it was practically eliminated, because Wisla added a goal to make it 1-0 in the second leg and 3-0 on aggregate. Biała Gwiazda took a goal on the right side of the pitch. The ball went to Bartosz Jaroš near the flag and despite the circumstances not being comfortable he delivered an excellent cross. Already in the middle of the penalty area, Angel Rodado bypassed the confused defender and beat the KF Llapi goalkeeper with a header.

In the 69th minute, the already high temperature in Kosovo rose a little. Blendi Paftić headed past Anton Šiškan from close range, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The hosts did not give up on improving the score yet, and in the 74th minute they equalized 1-1. The Wisła goalkeeper turned out to be helpless against a shot from several meters by substitute Ardit Tahiri, but it was the only one – a congratulatory goal from KF Llapi.

The decisive goal that made it 2-1 in the 90th minute was scored by Kazimierz Moskal’s substitutes. Patrik Gogol fired a pass from Giannis Kiakos, who beat two opponents with a single trick. The Greek found himself alone ten meters or so from the KF Llapi goal and scored with a low kick to win the match.

Wisla Krakow’s opponent in the second qualifying round of the Europa League will be Rapid Vienna.
