Only in the last few weeks have the first smartphones equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen.3 SoC begun to appear on the market, and information about the capabilities of its successor has already begun to appear on the Internet. Practically at the same time, we also learned of the first reports on the performance of its competitor, the Apple A18 Pro, which will debut after the holidays in the new iPhone 16 Pro models. What performance should we expect from the leading SoC?
The first information about the performance of the Apple A18 Pro and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen.4 has appeared online. The upcoming smartphone systems are expected to deliver high performance, with Apple's unit topping single-threaded performance, while Snapdragon's unit topped multi-threaded performance.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Samsung Exynos 2400 – SoC testing of Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones. Which is better?
Information about the performance of both processors will come from the GeekBench 6 program. In the case of Snapdragon 8 Gen.4, in the single-threaded test, this system has already scored 2845 points, while in the multi-threaded test – 10628 points. At least in this second respect, it's probably the most powerful smartphone system. Current information also shows that the current sample of the competitive Apple A18 Pro cannot even come close to the Snapdragon's performance, at least when it comes to multi-threading performance.
The Apple A18 Pro GB6 score is said to be 3500/8200.

Qualcomm Snapdragon
At its current stage, the Apple A18 Pro is expected to deliver a multi-threading performance of around 8,200 points, which is a result of around 30% lower than the Snapdragon. In part, this difference should not be surprising, because Apple's system will offer fewer cores than competitors as standard (there is talk of reusing 6 cores, including two for performance and four for efficiency). The situation is different in the case of single-core performance, because in this case the Apple A18 Pro will be more powerful not only than any other SoC in smartphones, but also of all processors from the Apple M3 family. Scores in GeekBench 6 are now expected to be around 3,500 points. It looks like Apple will be much better at single-threaded performance, while the upcoming Snapdragon will be much better at multi-threaded tasks.
