A moment after Hurkacz's match ended, it became clear that the Wrocław player would face the world's No. 3 tennis player – Daniil Medvedev – to advance to the top four at the Australian Open. The challenger from Moscow was the favorite in the battle against 26-year-old Nuno Borges, who was making his fourth-round Grand Slam debut. After less than two hours of play, the Portuguese were already losing 0-2 in sets.

Medvedev could and should have won 3-0. In the deciding set, he led up to 5:2, but wasted match points, lost five games in a row and had to play one more game in the “winning game”.

In the fourth part, Medvedev put the dots on the letters. After three hours and seven minutes of fighting, he advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, where he will face the Polish representative. This will be the sixth match between these tennis players. The score is 3-2 for Hurkacz, including 1-1 on hard courts.

Considering how “strong” the Russian has been in this tournament and the problems he faces in his comeback, he can expect that he will have major problems keeping his nerves under control.
