Bartosz Coric commented on his future in the Polish national team

The Polish national team won this cup for the second time in history. They had previously done so in 2009. Among the team that stood on the highest step of the podium, Coric, now 35, is still playing for the national team.

– That Bartek Coric from 2009 had one talent that I don’t have now – he was able to grow hair on his head, although he had the same fun. What has not changed over the years is that our team still wears gold medals around its neck, the striker said after the winning match against the tournament’s hosts, Italy.

He did not play in the last three matches of the European Championship because before the quarter-final match against Serbia he again felt pain in his hip, which had been bothering him earlier in this national team season. In a conversation with the media after the final match, he admitted that he did not know how his future career in the national team would develop.

– The youth won this medal for me and I tried to support them as much as I could. I hope this is not my last chord in this team. “I hope I can play in this shirt again,” Coric admitted.

The technical staff and the player himself do not yet know exactly the source of his health problem. After returning to Poland, he will undergo a comprehensive examination. And his performance in the last tournament of the season – the Olympic qualifiers – is questionable.

The striker noted that he does not want to end his career yet, but he realizes that you have to perform at a very high level to play in the national team.

-We have a winning team that will be very difficult to join. It’s a long way from wanting to take the field. The national team should be made up of the strongest players available at a given moment, and the coach will certainly approach it that way. The Polish captain said that there should not be any situation in any team where someone is given credit for their merits.

After the final match, he did not congratulate his teammates on the performance they showed in the decisive match.

– To achieve something great, you have to play your best in this crucial moment. The boys were able to do this and I have great respect for them,” Coric stressed.

Polish volleyball players will return to the country on Sunday. After less than four days of rest, they will resume training and then travel to China to participate in the qualifying tournament for next year’s Olympic Games in Paris. The event will start on September 30 and run until October 8.
