Hollywood has long been planning a remake of the 1935 horror classic. Recently, a version has been prepared that – along with “The Mummy” with Tom Cruise – will become part of the so-called “World of Monsters” produced by Universal Studios. It was meant to be a feminist version of the classic storyThe screenplay was written by David Koepp (“Jurassic Park”). The nominee to direct the film was Bill Condon (“Beauty and the Beast”), who had been talking about his fascination with “The Bride…” for years. His film “Gods and Monsters” (1998) tells the story of the last days of the life of James Whale, the director of “Frankenstein” and “Bride of Frankenstein.” Played by Ian McKellen.
