Biden assured Zelensky of his continued support
The White House said in a statement that US President Joe Biden “confirmed the United States' commitment to supporting Ukraine” during a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Biden also expressed his hope that Congress would approve adequate funding, despite opposition from many members of the Republican Party and former US President Donald Trump.
Let us remember that the US Senate approved an aid package worth $95 billion this week. It includes support for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
Ukrainians withdraw from Avdiivka
On Saturday, the Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Sersky, decided to withdraw Ukrainian forces from Avdiivka. “Due to the operational situation around Avdiivka, in order to avoid encirclement and protect the life and health of soldiers, I decided to withdraw our forces from the city and move to defend in more suitable positions,” he said.
Sersky noted that the Ukrainian soldiers carried out their military duty with dignity, did everything in their power to destroy the best Russian military units, and also inflicted great losses on the Russians.
