20th Century Studios and 21 Laps are promoting The Boogeyman as a horror thriller born in the mind of bestselling author Stephen King. In this remake of the classic story, we will meet high school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer – their family has recently suffered a terrible loss, namely the death of their mother. Although the siblings try to cope with the pain, they cannot count on the support of their father, who is a professional therapist. When his distraught patient breaks into their home one day, the whole family begins to experience disturbing events. It turns out that they are being chased by a creature that feeds on pain and intense fear…
The material presented should appeal to audiences who prefer the dark, attention-grabbing stories that are the hallmarks of the talented American writer. Let’s hope that the creators will be able to recreate the atmosphere of Stephen King’s stories.
Rob Savage (“The Host,” “Britain”) directed the show from a script by Scott Peck, Brian Woods (“A Quiet Place,” “65,” “Horrible House”) and Mark Heyman (“Black Swan”), while starring Sophie Thatcher. and Chris Messina and David Dastmalchian.
I distinctly remember the horror I felt reading King’s story as a child, and it was that sense of childhood fear that I wanted to evoke in viewers all over the world. This movie was made in collaboration with an incredibly talented team of creators, and it’s all about the amazing and deep performances of our amazing cast – I really admire them. “We’re very proud of this movie,” director Rob Savage said in an interview.
“The Boogeyman” premieres on June 2nd, so next month we should expect the first horror reviews and reviews.
