The film, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Daughter”), was initially produced for Netflix, but was acquired by Warner Bros. In addition to Buckley and Bill we will see, among others: Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard, who is Gyllenhaal's husband. The events take place in the 1930s. Frankenstein's only monster goes to Chicago. There he finds Dr. Euphronius and asks him to help him create a companion for himself. Together, they bring a murdered young woman back to life.

An unrealized remake of “Bride of Frankenstein”

Hollywood has long been planning a remake of the 1935 horror classic. Recently, a version has been prepared that – along with “The Mummy” with Tom Cruise – will become part of the so-called “World of Monsters” produced by Universal Studios. It was meant to be a feminist version of the classic storyThe screenplay was written by David Koepp (“Jurassic Park”). The nominee to direct the film was Bill Condon (“Beauty and the Beast”), who had been talking about his fascination with “The Bride…” for years. His film “Gods and Monsters” (1998) tells the story of the last days of the life of James Whale, the director of “Frankenstein” and “Bride of Frankenstein.” Played by Ian McKellen.

The 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, directed by James Whale, is a sequel to the 1931 film Frankenstein. It is considered one of the best sequels in the history of cinema. Watch the trailer:
The film tells the story of how Baron Frankenstein's (Colin Clive) rival, mad scientist Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), brings a woman (Elsa Lanchester) to life composed of the monster's human remains. Monstrom (Boris Karloff), who narrowly escaped the burning mill, hopes that she will become his companion.
