In order to obtain maximum protection from COVID-19, including disease caused by the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, it is important to administer two doses of the vaccine without unreasonably prolonging the intervals between doses.

Adolescent vaccinations

According to EMA information, Moderny’s effects were analyzed in a study of 3,732 children between the ages of 12 and 17. It showed that the vaccine produced an immune response comparable to that of the 18-25-year-old. Among the 2,163 children who received the real vaccine, no symptoms of COVID-19 developed. In a group of 1,073 children who received a placebo, four people developed symptoms. Based on these findings, the EMA concluded that Moderny’s effectiveness in children 12 to 17 years of age is similar to that of adults.

The most common side effects in children aged 12 to 17 are similar to those in people aged 18 and over. These include pain and swelling at the injection site, fatigue, headache, muscle and joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, nausea, vomiting and fever, the agency said. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate and disappear within a few days of vaccination.

Number of people vaccinated in Poland

By Friday, 3,528,1208 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered. The first dose was 18,759,946 vaccinations. 18,064,134 people were fully vaccinated – with either a single dose of Johnson & Johnson or a second dose of AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines.
