CPK with permission to build a tunnel under Lodz
The construction of the long-distance CPK tunnel in Lodz for high-speed railway was divided into three stages. As part of the first project since September last year, work is underway to strengthen the foundations of the Łódź Cultural Center (ŁDK), build an electricity network and underground technical infrastructure necessary for the operation of the traction substation of the railway line and rebuild heating. Water communications and telecommunications. This investment of over PLN 93 million is being implemented by Keller Polska. The tunnel will start directly below ŁDK – on the western side of Łódź Fabryczna station.
The second stage is the construction of rooms for the TBM mechanical shield for tunneling: the starting room – in Rytkinia and the reception room – near ŁDK. The contract for the implementation of these works was concluded with Budimex, amounting to approximately PLN 147 million. Works on Ritkinya are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. However, those near ŁKD will begin after the strengthening of the building's foundations is completed.
“Work on the high-speed railway tunnel in Łódź is progressing systematically and according to schedule. The technologies we use will reduce the inconvenience that residents experience in connection with this construction,” emphasized Radoslav Kantak, Member of the CPK Board of Directors for Railway Investments. .
The tunnel is scheduled to be 4.6 kilometers long and approximately 14 meters in diameter, and according to CPK's announcement, this tunnel will be the largest underground railway tunnel in Poland to be constructed using the automatic TBM method.
The tunnel in Łódź will be dedicated to long-distance trains, especially high-speed trains. Within the city, express trains will stop at Łódź Fabryczna Station. The tunnel exit to the surface is designed southwest of Łódź Kaliska, near the Retkinia estate and the existing railway line No. 14. Then the road will turn west – towards Siradz, and behind it there will be a crossroads towards Poznań and Wrocław.
CPK's investment in Łódź is part of the North Sea-Baltic Sea Corridor within the TEN-T core network, i.e. an element of the Trans-European communications route.
As part of the railway programme, CPK is preparing to build 12 lines, including 10 so-called spokes leading from different regions of Poland to Warsaw and the Port of Solidarity. In total, there are 30 investment tasks and about 2000 PLN. Kilometers of new railway lines. Ultimately, the new railway lines will enable CPK to travel between Warsaw, CPK and most major cities in Poland in no more than 2.5 hours.
Central communications port
The Central Communications Port serves as a transport hub between Warsaw and Łódź, which aims to integrate air, rail and road transport. Within this project, it is located 37 km west of Warsaw, with an area estimated at about 3 thousand hectares, and an airport will be built, which in the first phase will be able to serve 40 million passengers annually. The CPK will also include investments in railways: a road junction in the immediate vicinity of the airport and connections throughout the country, which will enable travel between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities in no more than two and a half hours. The investment should enable the creation of more than 150,000. New Jobs. The airport city will be built in the CPK area, which will include, among others: exhibition, conference, conference and office facilities. CPK is 100 percent owned by the state treasury and ranks among strategic companies in terms of the country's interest.
