Nostalgia is a very powerful tool in the video game sector, and if you need proof of that, the UK’s best-selling games for July 2023, including both physical and digital sales, is a great place to look.
according to Gamesindustry.bizOf all the games available on the market, Call of Duty has dominated the top 10 of the UK charts, and the best-selling CoD games in this group have been the ones that debuted over a decade ago. Why? Due to the fact that both games have been fixed on Xbox platforms and then discounted in several sales, the titles have seen a huge surge of interest, which is enough for the best Hogwarts Legacy game.
The two Call of Dutys in question are Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Before them, of course, was FIFA 23 at first and Grand Theft Auto V in second place, then unexpectedly and perhaps due to the recent announcement of the Red Dead Redemption port, Red Dead Redemption 2 came in third.
Both old Call of Dutys were followed by Hogwarts Legacy in the sixth, F1 23 in the seventh, Minecraft in the eighth, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (i.e. the last Call of Duty) in the ninth, and then Diablo IV in the tenth.
Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch couldn’t even land an exclusive in the top 10, but that may be due to digital sales numbers that Nintendo often doesn’t share.
Have you played an older Call of Duty game recently?
