The remake of the cult series, which probably laid stronger foundations for immersive simulation games than any other, should theoretically be doomed to failure. However, when Deus Ex: Human Revolution was released in 2011, the narrative changed significantly. This hit was followed by a sequel, Mankind Divided, but it was disappointing in some ways. So much so that fans are still waiting for the next chapter in Adam Jensen's broken story.
According to Bloomberg, despite several years of development, the next Deus Ex has been canceled by Embracer Group.
Deus Ex – The actor who plays Adam Jensen has spoken about the possibility of the series continuing
Games in the series have had a different reception over the decades, and of course there have been longer breaks between later releases, but it's still more than just a strong brand. For this reason, no one should be surprised that, for example, in 2022, Jason Schreier, among others, spoke about the alleged creation of a new part. These rumors may have been confirmed, but unfortunately in a not very pleasant context. It looks like the Embracer group I have cancelled project.
Pure Retro #2 – Deus Ex. What if 90s conspiracy theories were true? Genre fusion and fully immersive simulation
According to Schreier, the new Eidos Montreal game has been in development for about two years and will soon go into production mode. It seems that the news is more or less true – not only is it difficult to find a more reliable source than Bloomberg, but in the meantime Eidos has published a statement that kind of confirms everything. With such a large project derailed, staff reductions were also suspected – and the company itself has just confirmed this in an official letter. 97 employees had to resign from their positions. The studio is now supposedly working on a completely different IP. Either way, this is further evidence that Embracer is completely unable to handle the current market situation, as this kind of contextualized information has become a regularly recurring topic (don't look away, potential problems with Piranha Bytes). Well, if Deus Ex fans were hoping to receive an announcement about the new installment soon, they will be sorely disappointed.
