Dismembered body dumped near dustbin: Hollywood producer’s son arrested

The son of a former celebrity agent and Hollywood producer was arrested last week in connection with the discovery of a dismembered body near a dumpster in Encino, Los Angeles, which may be that of his wife.

“Here, once the officers got in, they found evidence of a crime,” Los Angeles Police Department Detective Efren Gutierrez told “ABC7” on Thursday.

The investigation began last Wednesday in Encino, Los Angeles, after a homeless man found the remains of a human torso wrapped in a plastic bag in a trash can, US media reported.

Thanks to surveillance cameras, they tracked down Samuel Haskell Jr., 35, his wife Mei Haskell, and mother-in-law Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshen Li, who lived in the same house in Tarzana.

“The reason we’re worried about them is because they’re usually at home at these times. Tried to contact them by cell phone…there’s no answer. According to “ABC 7,” as for Mei, she’s missing,” continued Efren Gutierrez.

It’s unclear when the death occurred, but investigators estimate it could have happened within a few days.

The 30-year-old, who was arrested and detained hours after the body was found, is believed to be the son of Hollywood producer Sam Haskell, who reportedly resigned as CEO of the Miss America organization in 2017 after a scandal. He has produced several television films with Dolly Parton.
