While some game genres will never return to the mainstream at a level comparable to their best times, such returns do happen from time to time. For example, the DORFteam of two is preparing for a nostalgic journey into the world of classic real-time strategies. For now, we’re still getting the first parts with graphics, but you have to admit that they promise to be pretty good.
DORF Real-Time Strategic Conflict is an intimate project that recalls the golden years of real-time strategy under the Command & Conquer label. Its creators have just published the first advertisement.
Shadows of Doubt – The never-before-seen detective simulator debuted in Early Access on Steam
In recent years, there has been a slightly fading trend of shooting shooters – that is, titles that reference FPS games from the good old days. Following this lead, one can safely describe DORF’s real-time strategic conflict as the RTS boom. Specific models stylized as strategies from decades past, one-of-a-kind animations, heavy synth notes playing in the background – we’ve basically got the full package. The perfect proof that you don’t always need a huge budget or the latest technology to come up with an interesting concept.
Victoria 3: Voice of the People – Paradox begins developing its next game. Announcement and release date of the first expansion
The plot of DORF Real-Time Strategic Conflict presents us with a grim vision of a world where endless conflicts, genetic experiments, and extraterrestrial anomalies have turned our planet into a gigantic, pitted battlefield. We can choose between three factions: the Military Empire, the Warband faction taken from the Mad Max series, and the NWO, a strong nod to the SF tradition. Each faction has its own technologies or units, and of course objectives – just like in the good old Command & Conquer games. As you can see from the sketches and the first trailer, the developers haven’t hidden their inspiration. The premiere date has not been set yet, but you can add this item to your Wish List at steam.
