- Pogoń Szczecin may not allow Adrian Przyborek to participate in the European Under-17 Championship in May because it is not profitable for her
- -We are studying this strongly. We are checking if Adrian can stay at the club. For two reasons – says Darius Adamchuk, sporting director of Bogun
- – This is ridiculous. Bartosz Orbán says that clubs not only benefit financially from their players, but may also be subject to penalties

The European Under-17 Championship will be held in Cyprus from May 20 to June 5, which coincides with the end of the Extraclassa season. The Polish national team qualified for the tournament, and its player is Adrian Przeboric. After the winter break, the 17-year-old also won a place in the Pogoń team fighting for the championship and the Polish Cup. Additionally, he provides the club with minutes in the youth classification (player born in 2002 and younger), something that people in Szczecin care about a lot.
In the fall, the young players did not feature much in Jens Gustafsson's team, for which Bogu is now facing punishment. This can be avoided if the young players appear in the team a total of 3,000 times in 34 matches this season. minutes. The quest is far from meeting this limit. With six rounds remaining, its young players have accumulated 1,927 minutes, and the car's meter is expensive:
a) A fine of PLN 3 million – if young players play for 999 minutes or less.
B) 2 million PLN – from 1000 to 1999 min;
c) 1 million PLN – from 2000 to 2499 minutes;
Dr) 500 thousand PLN – from 2500 to 2999 minutes.
According to Ekstrastats' calculations, Pojo is 95.5 minutes away from reaching the 2,500-minute mark, which the young players have played in each of the six matches, and 178.8 minutes away from avoiding a penalty. In Szczecin, they realize that this will be very difficult, so they are trying to reach the last tranche with sanctions, which will allow them to save half a million Polish zlotys.
Przyborek is an important link in this attempt to limit the amount of the fine imposed on the Polish Football Association. However, the 17-year-old may not play in the last two or three rounds, as he will almost certainly be called up to the ME-17 squad by coach Rafał Lasuki.
The Polish Football Association is looking for a solution to compensate clubs for the travel of young players
Pogon has already reported this issue to the Polish Football Association, and they are wondering what to do about it.
The solution may be to change the regulations. In the case of players who are called up for youth national team matches on dates outside the UEFA calendar, the average minutes played by that player over the entire season are added for each league match, explains Wojciech Sejan, Vice President of the Polish Football Association. Professional football.
If Przyborek leaves with the Polish national team today, after changes in the regulations, he will have to add his 23 minutes (data according to 90minut.pl) to the limit for the young player of Szczecin. Pogoń may feel wronged. Although Przyborek played less in the fall, his average in the spring is higher than can be added to the collection the club has amassed.
Finalist PP's managers are wondering whether they will allow their talented player to go to the Cyprus tournament.
– We are already seriously considering whether to allow him to play in the tournament. We are checking if he can stay at the club. For two reasons. The first is the maximum limit for young players, and the second is the sporting goals that Adrian can help us achieve – reveals Darius Adamchuk, Bogun's sporting director.
Pogoń doesn't want to repeat last season's mistake
Port are still playing in the Polish Championship, five points behind leaders Jagiellonia. Even if they couldn't take the throne, the higher they rose in the league, the more generous the PZPN would be to them. The difference between third and fourth place can reach PLN 4 million, which is well known in Szczecin. In the penultimate round of the previous season, in a match against Gornik, Pogo, due to the referee's error, did not get a penalty kick, lost the chance to win, and Lech overtook him in the table. It cost the Szczecin team four million Polish zlotys to miss out on the podium, so they don't want anything this season to stop them from fighting for the highest possible position.
But can Pogoń even prevent his player's trip to the European Championship tournament? Let us add that the tournament is being held outside the official dates set by the World Federation. FIFA has published the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) manual regarding player rights and transfers. There was also an appendix relating to representation. In the annual calendar, FIFA determines the representative windows in advance, setting the European Championships, the Asian Cup and the African Cup of Nations. The calendar concerns senior national teams, but there is no mention of junior teams.
Pogoń wants a lawyer to look into this matter. He will have to research FIFA regulations, because the federation may regulate players’ participation in junior tournaments outside the official dates.
Gornik Zabrze returns for Dominik Zala's participation in the U-17 World Cup
Zabrze is monitoring how the Polish Football Association will resolve the Przyborek case. Although Gornik's representatives also decided to act on their own. FC Zabrze also faces financial consequences for failing to meet the cap for youth players – they are 50 minutes away from a young player per game passing the 2,500-minute threshold, and 133 minutes away from avoiding a penalty.
In their case, the doubts relate to Dominic Sala and his participation in the U-17 World Championship in November, and coach Jan Orban was unable to use this player at that time. Zala may not have played much with him yet, but he is slowly starting to break into the team. Before going to the tournament in Indonesia, he played in two matches (67 minutes against Lech and 45 minutes against Ulinsk), becoming a member of the starting lineup after the winter break.
Now Gornik has sent a letter to the Polish Football Association asking how they will handle Zala's absence in the autumn due to his representative duties. Zabrze suggests that the 225 minutes played by their player in the U-17 World Cup should be included in the cap.
Because Gornik is still missing these minutes, and the chances of making up for the deficiency have declined since Sala's recent injury. Another young player, Kamil Lukoszczyk, shone in the match against Olinsk, but he will still spend the end of the season in Zabrze with a calculator in his hand.
– We need three games with an additional young player to fill the cap. Maybe we'll play the last three matches against them in doubles, or the last match in triples (Maximum 270 minutes played by youth players in one match is included), and the penultimate time twice – Gornik's team manager, Krzysztof Skotnik, wonders out loud. -On the other hand, we look at the historical order. If the results are bad, we may drop one or two positions, which also means losing money.
The Polish Football Association had at least two years to prepare for this moment
Bartosz Urban on Naszapicy.pl carefully counts the minutes of young players and explains the situation the clubs are in. There is no doubt that the current situation represents another strong argument for scrapping the provision for young players in the Premier League.
– There is only one month left until the start of the European Championship, so it is now difficult to propose a reasonable solution for the outgoing national team players, as no such effort has been made so far. The Polish Football Association had at least two years to prepare for such an eventuality, bearing in mind that the tournament schedule in 2022 and 2023 also conflicts with the league dates – something that surprised Orbán.
According to him, a compensation system should be put in place for clubs that may not reach the time limit due to the player's participation in the national team's training camp.
– It is also useful to look at it from the perspective of the Pro Junior system – suggests Urban. Teams competing for positions with financial rewards ultimately lose due to the absence of players. Let us remind you that the Polish Football Association decided not to award additional points for playing in the national team, so the clubs do not receive anything in return within the framework of the PJS. This is ridiculous. In clubs, not only do they not benefit financially from their players, but they can also be punished – says the author of the portal Naszapicy.pl.
In Szczecin and Zabrze they joke bitterly that it is not profitable to train well and send the best to the national team, because you may be fined for it.
