The Republicans put forward 45 deputies. The National Assembly will also include 15 deputies from right-wing parties that were not part of the coalition created by Marine Le Pen and 13 left-wing deputies from outside the new Popular Front.
The New Popular Front does not want to cooperate with the president
This balance of power means that neither formation has an absolute majority of 289 votes. Moreover, the leader of the New Popular Front, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, announced immediately after the election results were announced that there would be no cooperation with President Emmanuel Macron’s party.
