By decision of the head of the Energy Regulatory Office, the tariff for selling electricity to domestic consumers was approved. These definitions apply to four companies that sell ex officio:
- PGE Oprot;
- Ennis.
- toron sales;
- Energa Operut.
Currently approved energy prices for 2024 are 31.3% lower than approved prices for 2023. What does this mean? Prices will fall from PLN 1,076.70 to PLN 739.30. This is linked to lower prices on the wholesale market compared to telecom prices concluded in 2022.
Most importantly, President Andrzej Duda signed the Electricity, Heat and Gas Consumer Protection Act on Friday, December 15. Thanks to the new regulations, the following were created, among others: Maximum electricity prices for households as well as small and medium-sized businesses. What will be the limits?
During the first half of 2024, i.e. until the end of June, the maximum energy prices for households will be maintained at PLN 412 per MWh network. This will be maintained at the current consumption limit level, with a 50 percent reduction, because the regulation applies to half the year, not to the entire year. This also means that above the specified limit we will pay PLN 693 per MWh. What are these limits? It will be 1,500 kWh for households, and in the case of households with disabled people, the limit will be 1,800 kWh. In contrast, farmers and families with a large family card will have a limit of 2,000 kWh.
Money.pl warns of a specific and difficult situation. Homeowners equipped with heat pumps have to pay much more than they expected. This is due to the fact that this seemingly environmentally friendly solution makes the maximum of 1,500 kWh too low. Evidence suggests that annual electricity consumption has become several times higher, and even with the previous limit of 3,000 kWh, it has been significantly exceeded. But thanks to the heat pump subsidy and the fact that the increase applies to energy consumed above the indicated limit, it was not noticeable.
According to mBank analysts, as reported by money.pl, without preventive solutions and the approval of the head of the Energy Regulatory Office, inflation will be higher by up to two percentage points.
