Excitement in the air two days before QUB hits the FM airwaves

Excitement was high during a dress rehearsal at the new QUB Radio studios on Saturday morning, two days before its big debut on the FM airwaves.

Same DNA

QUB Radio’s arrival on the FM airwaves is a shift to the “major leagues”, said Mr. Martino believes.

“The thought of someone listening to us in their car when we open the microphone on Monday, I find that very brilliant,” underlines Sophie Durocher, who has dreamed of a leap towards radio since QUB’s inception.

However, the station’s DNA will change as it reaches new audiences, says the anchor and columnist.

New studios

“One day, I’ll be able to say: I was there when it happened,” said researcher Cybele Olivier on the lunchtime show hosted by Benoit Dudrysak.

“There’s always an element of stress because we have new technology, new equipment to test, broadcast operators to get used to,” says Mathieu Turbid, Quebecor Media’s vice president of digital content.

The small QUB radio team was the first to move into this completely renovated building, as all of Quebecor’s media will gradually join them this fall.
