Cowboys fringes will become members of the Order of Arts and Letters of Quebec.
Jean-Francois Basse, Jerome Dubras, Marie-Annique Lepine and the late Carl Tremblay will receive the title, presented by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (CALQ), during a ceremony on June 10. From the Department of Culture.
The tribute rewards “personalities from the cultural sector for their outstanding contributions and for the excellence and reputation of Quebec’s arts and letters here and abroad.”
Since the death of singer Carl Tremblay last November, Les Cowboys Fringants has enjoyed an impressive love rating. They released a new album last month, which topped the sales charts.
Among other personalities who will receive this distinction this year, we find singer Claude Dubois, filmmaker André Forcier and writer Hélène Dorian.
On the visual arts side, artists Rosie Godbott and Michael Goulet and art historian Alice Ming Wai Jim will be honored.
From the line-up created ten years ago, many personalities have been named, including filmmaker Denis Arcand, artist François Sullivan, songwriter Luke Plamondon, actress Janine Sutto and comedian Yvonne Deschamps.
