Manchester United qualified for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup thanks to a 3-1 victory over West Ham United. Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton FC were eliminated from the competition. The Saints were eliminated by the Fourth League.
Manchester United’s calendar is full of cup to-dos. Erik ten Haga’s men are doing well, and last week they drew Barcelona in the Europa League and lifted the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory in the final against Newcastle United.
In the FA Cup, Old Trafford faced West Ham United, a Europa League participant who had problems in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag mixed things up a bit with Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford still on the bench. Harry Maguire and Alejandro Garnacho featured from the start. Alphonse Ariol played for West Ham United in place of Lukasz Fabianski, who was struggling with his health.

Manchester United had the advantage in possession and had more shots, but they weren’t strong. It was the seemingly hidden London team that checked the opposition goalkeeper with shots on goal more often. David De Gea’s tackles didn’t cause the hosts any major problems.
However, West Ham United did not lose their morale and in the 54th minute they pushed their way. Said Benrahma’s shot gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Red Devils managed to answer. Things became more tense in their camp in the 72nd minute, when Casemiro’s goal was ruled out for offside. After another five minutes, the score became 1: 1 thanks to a special show by Naif Aguird. Manchester United could not legally defeat Alphonse Areola, but one of the opponents helped him.
There are no replays in the FA Cup quarter-final competition so if the match is tied until the end of the second half, there will be extra time. Manchester United wouldn’t allow it, adding goals from Alejandro Garnacho in the 90th minute and Fred in extra time to make it 3-1.
Tottenham Hotspur has been absent from the FA Cup since Wednesday. The Champions League entrant suffered a 0-1 defeat against Sheffield United. Antonio Conte’s side conceded a goal in the 79th minute and added another setback to their list of problems.
There was a surprise in Southampton. The hosts, without Jan Bednarek in the squad, lost 1-2 to Grimsby Town of League Two. One goal was scored in both halves by Javan Holohan, who successfully took the penalties. The Saints responded with a goal by Duje Calety-Cara, which turned out to be just a sweet farewell to the FA Cup.
