The French regional health agency said that no case of a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 has been recorded since October 26, but the foundation says it is still monitoring the situation.
The newspaper said that a small number of infections with the new strain have been reported in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Italy, but Delta infections are still prevalent.
– This alternative shows that if you leave part of the world’s population without access to vaccines (against Covid-19), the virus will continue to multiply and create new variants – commented Professor Cyril Cohen of Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv.
– I don’t want to scare people. At the moment, we only have a few cases of B.1.640, where it may expire, and perhaps in a few months we will all forget about this alternative – concluded the professor.
