Ashley Wadsworth was only 12 years old when she met 15-year-old Jack Seibel from the UK online. For many years, the teens kept the relationship at a distance because they were separated by thousands of kilometers. When Ashley turned nineteen, she decided to visit her beloved in Great Britain. She had no idea that it would end so tragically for her.
In 2021, the girl boarded a plane and set off on a 7,200-kilometer flight bound for England. Ashley went to live with Jack in his house in Chelmsford, Essex. At first, the couple seemed happy. The girl shared many photos of London with her new boyfriend on the Web.
But things later turned tragic. On February 1, 2021, the 19-year-old was supposed to text two friends that she needed help and wanted to leave Jack. The week before, she was due to complain to her mother that things weren’t going well and that she wanted to go back to Canada. didn’t work…
On the day the girl sent her an annoying text message to her friends, Jack strangled her and stabbed her nearly 90 times. He left the corpse of his slain lover in their shared bed. When the police entered Jack’s apartment, they found him talking to his sister via FaceTime. The 23-year-old was supposed to show her Ashley’s murdered body via a video camera.
What are the motives of the 23-year-old? The man testified in court that he could not come to terms with the idea that Ashley wanted to leave him and return to Canada.
Jack Seibel confessed to the murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
At the hearing, the judge said it was a “brutal and cowardly attack” and that Sibel “altruistically caused Ashley to suffer nearly 90 injuries.”
The killer will only be able to apply for parole after serving 23 years and six months of sentence.
