The ATP rankings were released on Monday, taking into account the results obtained by tennis players at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai. What is the situation of Hubert Hurkacz and other Polish players?

On Sunday, Hubert Hurkacz became the winner of the prestigious event in Shanghai. The tennis player from Wroclaw, after a three-set battle with Andrey Rublev (more here), won the second ATP Masters 1000 title in his career, and this is the greatest success of a Pole on the Asian continent.

For its victory in Shanghai, Hubei received 1,000 points. Thanks to this, he advanced in the world rankings from 17th to 11th place. His achievements currently reach 2900 points. He is 510 points behind American Taylor Fritz Pollack, who closes the top ten.

Serbian Novak Djokovic, who decided not to compete in China, remained at the top of the ATP rankings. Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz has not triumphed on the courts of the Central Kingdom, which is why he is 2,240 points behind the Serbian. The third in the world rankings is Russian Daniil Medvedev. His compatriot Andrey Rublev, who lost to Hurkacz in Shanghai, moved from seventh to fifth place.

The second member of the Whites and Reds’ squad, Daniil Michalski, fell from 254th to 256th. Max Kasnikowski fell to 308th. Filip Bilyeu became Poland’s fourth bat on Monday, rising to 357th. This is the result of significant declines in Kacper Żuk and Kamil Majchrzak. The Nowy Dwor resident is currently the No. 373 tennis player in the world, and the Piotrków resident is No. 382.

American Austin Krajicek maintained the top spot in the doubles rankings, ahead of his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig. The best Pole is Jan Zielinski, who dropped from 20th to 22nd place.

This week tennis players will be able to fight for ranking points in the tournaments of Tokyo (ATP 500), Antwerp and Stockholm (ATP 250). Hubert Hurkacz, who will remain in the match for a spot in the 2023 ATP Finals, will appear in the Japanese capital.
