The footage included several elements from the game in development, including a map shed, the mechanics of shooting and movement of characters or the artificial intelligence of opponents. The leak also confirmed some rumors about GTA VI that were already circulating on the web.

At first, it seemed like we might be dealing with an internet joke like many do. However, Rockstar’s black script soon came true. First, the authenticity of the recordings was confirmed by Jason Schreyer of Bloomberg, one of the most credible journalists in the gaming industry.
Thanks Rockstar later broke the silence:
We recently witnessed a network hack in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early screenshots from the following Grand Theft Auto. At the moment, we do not anticipate any disruptions to the live game services or any long-term impact on the development of our ongoing projects
– The company wrote in a statement.
