After March indexation, pensions rose 12.3%. Everything indicates that this will be the last double-digit interest increase. After that, the salaries of the elderly were paid on the 13th, which is why the transfers in April and the transfers from ZUS were higher. After March and April, which brought higher payments for seniors, May's benefits may come as a surprise to many people. For several months, retirees will receive “bare” payments. The table shows the amounts you can expect from ZUS.

Not only will payments for May be lower than April, but they will also reach seniors on slightly different dates. The calendar is in charge.

One million seniors will not get their payments in May

In the decision to grant the benefit, ZUS set the deadline for monthly payment – which is fixed. This is the first, fifth, sixth, tenth, fifteenth, twentieth, or twenty-fifth of every month. However, it is sufficient that the payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or any other day for the transfers to be made on another date. There is one rule – in such a situation, the payment must first reach the elderly person. The calendar will also spoil the benefits of May. One million people who are due on the first of the month will get their payments for May at the end of April. May 1 is a holiday, so ZUS – as is the case every year – will make transfers and remittances early.

There will also be some confusion for people receiving payments on the latest date – which is the 25th of the month. May 25 is a Saturday, so the pension will reach seniors on May 24 at the latest.

Second indexing only on paper?

We already know what awaits seniors in May. What will payments look like in the coming months? The government is working on the second indexation of pensions, but even if the law is passed, it is not known whether these increases will be implemented this year. The draft law assumes that such a second measurement can be implemented if the inflation rate in the first six months reaches at least 5%. Then all pensions and annuities will be increased on September 1. However, prices may not rise much. The latest data issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics indicate that the inflation rate during the period from January to March amounted to only 0.9%.

They will pay PLN 14 in the fall

The only thing seniors can be sure of is 14th graders. The new government does not intend to give up its payments. However, you must decide when exactly the conversions and remittances will begin this year. According to the regulations, the Minister of Family must, by October 31, issue a regulation setting the date for the disbursement of the fourteenth pensions. So, just look at the calendar – it means that retirees will receive such an additional payment of money only in November.
