The global crisis in the gaming industry is well underway, and although the end of the financial year is approaching, it has no intention of stopping. Today, another popular studio was hit with mass layoffs. This time it was the creators of Halo Infinite.
Nowadays, game development has evolved to such an extent that even the biggest games need to receive support from external partners who facilitate the performance of some of the necessary work. While 343 Industries is responsible for the Halo branding, it has been supported in the process for years by a team appointed to Affinity, an outside studio that specializes in helping other developers.
A certain company has worked not only on Halo, but also on Call of Duty, and has begun producing an original FPS game called Project Loro, and for years there have been rumors that the team is also developing a competitor to Capcom's Monster Hunter brand. Unfortunately, yesterday we received the very sad news that up to 25 people had to say goodbye to their jobs at a certain company Affinity, which, according to the company's president, Max Huberman, is the first reduction of its kind in the company's almost eighteen-year history.
The move is intended to allow the company to survive and secure funds to complete projects that have already been started. The layoffs may be a result of Microsoft canceling Halo Infinite's Battle Royale mode.
